Driving great quality traffic to your website can be a pretty tough task, but getting those visitors to come back is even tougher. The worse thing you can do is let your visitors come and go without attempting to intervene. What are the odds of them returning? Not very good at all. That’s where opt-in lists can be a big help and make a huge impact on your sales.

For those of you who don’t know, an opt-in list is a collection of emails that have been obtained by permission. Unlike spammers, you have the consent of these people to send them offers, messages and information relating to your Internet marketing business. Because they opted in, they also have the ability to unsubscribe to your list at any time.

You’ve undoubtedly heard of how important list building is in the world of online marketing, and there’s very good reason for it. It’s been said that it takes a potential customer an average of 7 times to see something before they make a purchase on the Internet. The best way to capitalize on this is through your list. By sending several well-written promotional messages over a period of time, you build their trust in you and increase the chances of making a lot more sales.

As your valuable list increases into the hundreds or thousands, you’re developing an extremely powerful resource that you can tap into every time you want to promote something new. You have already gained their trust and selling to them is a lot easier than selling to anyone else. Can you imagine having the ability to exclusively broadcast to your own email list of thousands at anytime? It’s a pretty big advantage that can really boost your income online.

Creating an opt-in list isn’t a difficult thing to do. There are many websites offering tutorials on how to do it step by step. You can even invest in an autoresponder which you will eventually realize to be a necessary tool as your Internet business grows. Autoresponders make it easier to capture emails and are a great way to manage your list especially when it becomes to large and complicated to handle by yourself.

Once you’ve got your website setup to build your list, you need to offer some sort of an incentive for them to sign up. People aren’t just going to hand over their email addresses to you. Most marketers online offer free Ebooks, newsletters or any type of valuable and useful information in exchange for visitor’s contact info.

It’s important to continually build and maintain the trust of the people on your list. Don’t jeopardize that by selling their emails to anyone and resist contacting them too much as all of this can be seen as spamming. There’s nothing that will shrink your list faster than being accused of practicing spam. Developing a trusting relationship with your subscribers is key to maximizing your income with them.

If you’re not attempting to capture emails on your website, you are letting money flow rapidly down the drain. An opt-in list allows you to build a relationship with your visitors over a period of time. That’s extremely hard to do with a website alone, especially when you only have one chance to impress your visitors enough to return again. A nicely maintained opt-in list has the potential to generate a substantial portion of your income online.

The Internet has changed the way we do business, and the way we do marketing. Ten years ago, it was enough to have a print ad in the Yellow Pages and a quick radio spot to spread the word about your business. Now there are new ways to market your business on the Web, and they’re wonderfully cost-efficient.

The internet is such a huge market place. People from all points of the globe are going online on a daily basis looking for products to buy. This huge demand has prompted a lot of marketers to take their business on the World Wide Web. Are you one of them?

Whether you are selling your own products or promoting affiliate products, it is very important that you know the elements and the tools that you need to use in order to secure great sales potential in the online arena.

Here’s how you can sell more over the internet:

1. The first thing that you need to do is to create your own website.

No matter how good you are and no matter how great your products are, people will not possibly take you seriously if you don’t have your own place over the internet. Hire a professional web designer to create an ecommerce website for you where you can showcase your products and services. Ensure that your website is easy to navigate, secure, and loaded with valuable information that are closely related to your offerings and to your chosen niche.

2. Drive traffic to your website.

Think of your website as a shopping mall. You will need to attract people to give it a visit before you can actually make a sale. Use different traffic-generating tools that can help you drive interested people to your website. You can promote your website on relevant forums, blogs, discussion boards, and social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, etc.). You can also use article marketing and various link building campaigns that can make your website highly valuable to the eyes of various search engines.

3. Promote your products.

Promote product awareness by properly advertising your offerings online. For this, you can use PPC advertising, search engine marketing, paid links, banner ads, ezine publishing, email marketing, etc. Since promoting your products using all available tools can be exhausting and time-consuming, you may opt to hire professional internet marketers to help you out. You will need to share a certain percentage of your earnings with these people in exchange of their services.

4. Take good care of your customers.

As they say, the most effective advertising strategy is word-of-mouth advertising. Ensure that you keep all your customers happy and satisfied through your products and through your customer service. By doing so, these people will surely recommend you to their friends and family members who might need your offerings.

Title: Online Display Ad Pricing Drops in Q4 2008

Latest News!

Pubmatic has released online ad pricing data for the fourth quarter 2008. They found that ad pricing dropped in Q4, likely due to an all too unstable economy. Here’s what they found:

  • All sizes of websites (small, medium, and large) were down dramatically from Q4 2007; small, medium, and large sites dropped 52%, 23%, and 54%, respectively, from the previous year.
  • All sizes of websites were down from Q3 2008 to Q4 2008, but the drops leveled-off, bucking the trend of larger drops from quarter to quarter throughout 2008; this may be an indicator that the online ad sector received enough of a boost from holiday advertising to keep ad rates steady.
  • All vertical categories experienced significant drops in their ad pricing from Q4 2007; the biggest drop by a vertical was Business & Finance, which fell from an average price of $2.13 in Q4 2007 to $0.83 in Q4 2008 – a 61% drop.
  • No vertical categories dropped by a significant amount from Q3 2008 to Q4 2008, with some verticals even improving from the previous quarter — the Technology, Sports, Entertainment, Gaming, and Music verticals all had higher ad price averages in Q4 of 2008 than in Q3 of 2008.

“Online ad pricing is a reflection of what is happening in the overall economy, and as a result, pricing has dropped significantly in almost all categories in the past year,” said Rajeev Goel, Co-founder and CEO of PubMatic. “However, with overall advertising budgets shrinking, the need for marketers to have more accountable advertising could bring more advertising dollars online in 2009 and start an upward trend as some vertical categories have already experienced.”
